SUUS YRE FUNDRAISING 2010
Thank you, SUUS! Thanks to your generosity, we have reached our fundraising goal! Our youth are still available for Yellow Page jobs and we are still collecting returnable bottles. Why? Any money earned between now and the summer will be used to help defray the out-of-pocket expenses faced by the families of our youth who are headed to the Dominican Republic. We thank you for your continued generosity and help.
Why are we raising money?
We are looking to support the activities of three of our youth this summer:
Two of our high school students are going to the Dominican Republic this summer for a nine-day interfaith service project in the village of Luperon
One middle school student will attend the week-long music camp associated with this year's General Assembly, culminating in a children's choir concert for the General Assembly.
These experiences are important for our youth, but they are expensive. The estimated cost for each Dominican Republic trip is about $1400. The UUA has provided some funds for the GA trip, but about $220 is still needed.
You did it! You helped us reach our goal of $1,020!

How can you help?
Please join us in as many of the following activities as you can:
(1) Returnable Bottle Collection – bring us your bottles that can be returned for a deposit (there is a box for them in the coffee hour room) and we will collect the deposit and apply it to the trips. Or, if it is easier for you, bring us your receipts for returned bottles (there is a smaller box for receipts), and we will collect the money.
(2) The SUUS Yellow Pages – If you need work done, please check the list of services that our youth have to offer. You name your price – the youth that you hire will apply the payment to his trip. Services include pet and baby sitting, yard work and other chores, cooking and baking - to name a few! (Download the complete Yellow Page list here).
(3) The Annual Chili Cook-off – On March 27, come and enter your chili, or just enjoy the labors of others. All proceeds will support the trips. Click here for more information on this event.
2010's Chili Cook-Off Winner, Cathy Stuart, with two grateful SUUS Youth. The Chili Cook-Off raised $200.00 to support our RE Youth activities!
(4) SUUS Luncheon on April 25 – the lunch will be prepared and served by our youth; all proceeds will support the trips.
Questions? Please speak with our DRE, Judy Bruce-Mangle (SUUSDRE@gmail.com) or Ann Kadlecek.
Thank you for your help!
