| A Message From the SUUS Board of Trustees President |
4 March 2010
I would like to remind members and friends of two important events this month. First, March is our Stewardship Drive month. The drive will be preceded by the “SUUS Idol” talent show and dinner on Saturday, March 6th in our Fellowship Room. Save the night - come and enjoy an evening of companionship, good food and a wide variety of entertainment from fellow SUUSers!
Our Visiting Stewards are all ready and will be visiting you between March 7th and April 7th. Please read the materials sent to you concerning the Stewardship Drive, think about the amount you wish to pledge and have questions, concerns or joys ready to discuss!
The second noteworthy event is the first of our Congregational meetings to be held after service on Sunday March 21st. This year we are trying something new and holding two shorter congregational meetings and votes. The first meeting involves voting for new Board and Committee positions while the second congregational meeting on Sunday May 23rd involves voting on the budget and other financial matters. The earlier meeting will allow new Board and Committee members to dovetail with outgoing members and have a say in formation of next year’s budget. At the March meeting members will vote for the Vice President and Finance positions on the Board of Trustees and Committee chairs or co-chairs for Social Action, Music, Hospitality, Membership and Program.
Also at the March meeting the congregation will vote on the Covenant of Affiliate Ministry that has been worked out between Rev. Elferdink, our new SUUS member and UU minister Rev. Caitlin O’Brien, and the Committee on Ministry. The Board of Trustees has reviewed this covenant and it passed with a unanimous vote. I would like to thank all involved in preparation of this document … it is certainly elegantly crafted. The COM will be hosting a congregational information session on the Covenant after service on Sunday March 14th … please attend and learn more.
Yours in Fellowship, Neil Schultes, President SUUS Board of Trustees
