RE News from Nate – – Jan. 20th

Nate PawelekSecret Pen Pals 2016 is here! Last chance to sign up is this Sunday, January 24 (unless there’s a troublemaker snow storm!)

For those of you who are new to Secret Pen Pals, we are about to embark on our 3rd annual inter-generational anonymous letter exchange between adults of the congregation and children in the religious education program.  When you sign up, adults and children will be paired anonymously.  You will write letters to each other and only be identified by a symbol on the envelopes, such as a smiley face or a half moon.  After six weeks there will be a big identity revealing dinner.  You do not need to know how to write or read as long as your parents help you.  It’s really fun, so sign up!!

*4-6th Grade OWL

We will be offering 4-6th grade OWL soon. OWL stands for Our Whole Lives and is an age-appropriate human sexuality and health program designed in this case for 4-6th graders. Our facilitators will be Linda and Dan Brill, who were trained last summer. The program will be 8 sessions/weeks long and will be taught at a separate time from Religious Education classes. If you know anyone who might like to join this program, please let Nate know. (It’s a great way to introduce them to SUUS Religious Education!)

Warm regards,
Nate Pawelek, Director of Religious Education
