Thank you Austin Dailey, Hip Hop Dance Artist extraordinaire, for his amazing program to renew our spirits last Sunday! The children (and the DLRE) all danced, even the shy ones. I think my favorite dance move was the “stanky leg,” but the “wip”, “nay-nay” and “superman” (which you have to pose “a little crooked”) were close seconds…or thirds. If anyone would like information about Austin’s program, please contact me.
Our annual Secret Pen Pals tradition is approaching! Sign-ups to participate carry on until January 21. The first letter exchanges will begin January 28. For those who do not know about Secret Pen Pals, it’s sweet and fun! Adults and children are paired anonymously and write letters back and forth for six weeks, learning all about each other. At the end, there is a big identity-revealing dinner party (Friday, March 16 currently), where the pen pals share a meal and dessert together. Sound fun? Sign up and see for yourself. Look for sign-up clipboards, one for adults and one for children, in the coffee hour space under the RE News bulletin board.
We will start rehearsing the song, “Oh, the Thinks You Can Think” from the musical Seussical this Sunday during Religious Education classes, and each week through March. The plan is to perform the song during the March 10th Talent Show. We will perform the song again for the congregation sometime in the spring during a worship service (maybe Mother’s Day), so if your child cannot participate on March 10th at the Talent Show, they will still have a second opportunity to sing!
