THANK YOU From Covenant to Care!

Thank YouOur social worker Joseph, at Covenant to Care, is absolutely overwhelmed at the generosity of our members and friends!  Last Friday, we gave him, $825 in gift cards. On Sunday, we collected $238 additional from Share the Plate and another $1oo in cash and another $25 gift card, for a total to date of $1188!  These cards will be used with Joseph’s help, for the families of foster children he is working with.   Many of these are grandparents who had not planned to be rearing kids at this point.

The remaining December offering plate cash donations will be donated to Covenant to Care, to support the organization.  For more information and ways to help this important justice issue, contact our Food Insecurity Chair, Barb Francese.  Thank you Barb and Jim and all those who have and continue to contribute!

Covenant to Care is a Connecticut based non-profit that advocates for, and provides direct assistance to Connecticut’s children who are neglected, abused, and/or impoverished.  SUUS supports the Adopt a Social Worker program which addresses the needs of specific children, often living with grandparents after having been removed from difficult family situations.

The “Share the Plate” program aims to embody SUUS’s principles and values by showcasing an organization that we will support each month. By donating 50% of our cash offering each week to a designated charity, we offer our congregation and all who visit SUUS a chance to become aware of the many needs in the area and the opportunity to make a difference in the world
