This Saturday and Sunday – Please Help Us Fight Hunger Locally!

The grade 4, 5, and 6 class this year is focusing on social justice issues using the Harry Potter series.  The first “Horcrux” they are fighting is hunger, and they need the help of the whole congregation.

The first event is at the Old Lyme Congregational Church, where we annually serve breakfast to families waiting for their turn to shop in the pantry on Saturday, October 26.  We especially need breakfast casseroles…such as eggs, hash browns etc, and fruits salads plus donations of cereal, juice, milk, muffins, and yogurts. (This event is actually a whole SUUS activity, the children and their families are just lending a helping hand!)

On the very next day, Sunday October 27, the students will be trick or treating for canned foods from the congregation during coffee hour for our local food pantries.

The most needed foods are canned chicken, tuna, protein meals such as beef stew and spaghetti and meatballs etc, small juices, and healthy snacks such as granola bars….also canned dog and cat food!

Thank you for helping our students do something to help others!  Any questions, please contact Barb Francese.
