Dear SUUS Families,
Are any of you breathing a little deeper this week? I know for me, I felt a huge sense of weight being lifted. I even heard someone refer to it as the lifting of “a baby grand piano off the chest!” I kind of liked that. We had a joyous time at home celebrating together and witnessing history in the making as we watched Vice President-Elect, Kamala Harris take the stage for her acceptance speech. It was good to finally be able to tell Viviana that she can truly be anything she wants to be. As we are well aware, there is still a lot of work to be done, but I pause to reflect upon the deep gratitude I have in this moment.
I was so grateful to spend much of the weekend celebrating the Biden Harris victory as well as my parent’s 50th wedding anniversary, and then this week Viviana’s 6th Birthday! Honoring our democracy, love and life filled my heart with joy and brought with it a sense of peace. I hope you too, have peace.
As we approach our Thanksgiving “Gratitude” service on November 22, and as we prepare to send Rev. Jeanne off to retirement, I am again overwhelmed with a sense of gratitude. I hope you and your family are able to send your reflections on gratitude to be shared at the November 22 service. Rev. Jeanne has asked that we reflect on the question below and send responses to her via email at firstname.lastname@example.org, no later than November 19.
“In light of all that has happened this year, I am grateful for…”
I am grateful for each and every one of you.
