Thanks from the Social Justice Committee

As you may recall, we shared our plate twice in October. On October 3, we took a special collection in honor of singer-songwriter Lea Morris. Lea led our service that day and we helped fund the programs of NXTHVN, an organization working to foster artists, curators, and arts apprentices in the New Haven community. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to donate $65.48 to their scholarship and fellowship funds.

For the rest of October, we shared our plate with the Alliance for Justice Action Campaign, which advocates in the courts and legislatures for the rights of women and those in the LGBTQ community. This arose directly as a response to the passage of Texas Senate Bill 8 and House Bill 1515 and our commitment to protect women’s rights to reproductive choice and the safety and rights of those in the LGBTQ community who are routinely discriminated against. Your generosity made it possible for us to send the Alliance a donation of $526.74.

Thank you!
