Faith Formation – 11/17/21

Peace Trees!

Dear SUUS Families,

Last week we began our exploration of “holding history” with an introduction to the Quinnipiac – the Native American tribe that inhabited the lands of Madison and surrounding towns. This Sunday we will continue learning and honoring the Quinnipiac (“people of the long water land”) during our Thanksgiving service. There will be music, story, heat lamps, a warming room, coffee hour and an art activity for families. I hope you are able to join us!

Please note, the last day of the FOOD DRIVE is this Sunday! After the service we will join Barb Francese to weigh the food donations, and help her load everything in the car. Please stay and help if you are able.

Love,
Amy

p.s. Who likes BOOKS? Last year, Kathy Helmrich shared a wonderful idea for Advent. Viviana and I did it at home, and it was awesome! Here is the link so you can see what it’s about. We used our own holiday books and then took the rest out from the library. Take a look and let me know if you are interested in doing a literary Advent and a BOOK SWAP! We would swap on Sunday, November 28 when we meet at Hammonasset!

Faith Formation Happenings

WORSHIP
Sunday, November 21 at 10:30am – Multi-Platform Multigenerational Thanksgiving Service with Rev. Terry
Celebrating the Quinnipiac (meaning “people of the long water land” in the Quiripy language), and their ancestors. They inhabited what is presently the Quinnipiac River watershed in south central Connecticut, utilizing the environment’s resources on a seasonal basis. The original Quinnipiac territory encompassed ten present-day towns in New Haven County, from the Atlantic shore at West Haven to twenty miles inland, and from Woodbridge on the west to Madison on the east. In all, Quinnipiac Country extended over 300 square miles. It is from these nearly forgotten people that the land SUUS occupies was stolen.
