Greetings, and we hope you have been staying as cool as possible during this heat wave.
In a few days, we will be meeting again in the sanctuary, with our Affiliate Minister, Rev. Jeanne, leading us in worship this coming Sunday, July 31. We look forward to being together!
We want to give you an update on our minister search. Recently, we told you that our focus has been to find a 3/4-time remote minister. Despite the strong efforts of the Minister Search Team, we have not been able to find a suitable candidate to fill the position. While we are continuing that search, refocusing on finding a local in-person candidate, our attention is now also turning towards putting together a line-up of a select group of guest speakers or ministers who can regularly lead in-person services.
Having several speakers/ministers will bring a variety of perspectives to our services, which we feel can be engaging. They will be in-person (a few services may be remote), for a better worship experience. The Worship Committee, Faith Formation Committee, Staff, and Board will work to make Sunday services and related activities as enriching as possible. And, the Board is working on lining up ministerial pastoral care; we hope to provide details in a few weeks.
As has been said before, the SUUS community is compassionate, committed, and resilient. It is these qualities that have carried us through periods of transition in the past, and we believe will do so now.
Wishing you well –
Gary Feder and Sue Schaedler
