Sunday, Oct. 9, 10:30am: “A Gitchee Gumee Gathering”, with Steve Ernst

In observance of Idigenous Peoples’ Day, Steve will Tell the tale of how UU, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, visited and lived with the Ojibwe/Chippewa Nation during a time when U.S. Government policy was to label all Native Americans as “savages.”  He used his newfound language and cultural learning to pen his epic poem, “Song of Hiawatha.” In doing so, he created America’s first “superhero!”
