Drawing on the poetry of Wendell Berry, this sermon explores the spiritual discipline of “night vision”—the courage to let our eyes adjust to the dark rather than rushing to dispel it. We will reflect on how hope is not always about clarity or answers, but about trusting the fertile growth that happens in the quiet and the dark.

“Mike Ryan is a Master of Divinity student at Yale Divinity School whose passion lies in fostering healthy and inclusive religious communities where individuals feel empowered on their unique spiritual journeys. This commitment grew from his experiences as a missionary in Southern Italy working with refugees and as a chaplain the Utah State Prison. While working in the prison system, Mike was instrumental in helping to create new religious opportunities for inmates from a wide variety of faith traditions, working to build bridges of understanding and ensure all had access to meaningful spiritual experiences.
