On SUNDAY, OCTOBER 18th, IRIS will share specific projects and opportunities the Shoreline Interfaith Community can support our existing
refugee community.
Many members of our congregation attended Temple Beth Tikvah (TBT) series on the needs of our immigrant community. One was with Sanctuary Kitchen workers, “Breaking Bread and Sharing Stories” and the other was“Immigration: What it Looks Like Here at Home”
The concern now is that government support has disappeared and what was once “Shoreline Interfaith Refugee Resettlement” (SHIRR) has disbanded.
A sub-committee of their social action team reached out to IRIS and found that with minimal staff and no federal funding, they continue to need support. The Shoreline faith communities have expressed a desire to assist in some way.
Whether it may mean sponsoring a refugee family, volunteering at IRIS offices, or other ways of supporting our neighbors. Please plan on attending this session to learn more about our options.
