Shoreline Unitarian Universalist Society practices a democratic form of governing. At our Annual Meeting each spring, members vote on the budget, a slate of officers, trustees and committee chairs for the coming fiscal year. Also, this is the time in which grants written by leadership or by members are recommended and approved. The congregation is responsible for calling the settled minister.
The Society is governed by a Board of Trustees who are elected annually. The Board consists of four officers; President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary; four trustees; Finance Chair, and three Members-at-Large; and, the Settled Minister (ex officio, non-voting). The Director of Lifespan Religious Education attends the monthly board meetings as non-voting staff person.
The Board of Trustees has the responsibility of managing the financial affairs of the Society. They create policy, plan for the future and work closely with committees, staff and the minister to create an environment of collaboration and cooperation.
