For the past year, our congregation has been on a Faith Formation journey. We explored several new models of Faith Formation for our youth and considered our professional staff needs. It is with great pleasure and excitement that the Search Committee announces the hiring of our on-site Director of Faith Formation and our off-site Faith Formation Mentor.
Our new Director is known to us for it is Amy Buckley, our Vocal Music Leader. Amy will continue her music leadership and take up the responsibilities of leading our Faith Formation program. She has taught children in a variety of settings for more than 20 years, has directed and produced many productions, and re-awakened SUUS’s vocal music program for nearly the past couple of years. We welcome Amy, her husband, Christian, and daughter, Vivianna, to SUUS.
In order to provide support for our Faith Formation program as it transitions, the Search Committee decided to engage an experienced mentor. We are so pleased that Perry Montrose, the Director of Religious Education at New London’s All Souls UU Church, will be available to the Faith Formation team and Amy by telephone, online, and at occasional meetings. Perry has been a religious educator for over 15 years at various UU congregations.
Amy and Perry will begin their new duties on August 1st. We look forward to working with them and providing support to our Faith Formation program!
