Faith Formation Happenings

Last week…

We concluded our seven week Chalice Quest where we presented the giant chalice to the congregation during Sunday’s service. It definitely exceeded all of our expectations and was a wonderful example of what we can create together as a community.

Coming of Age/Youth began painting a chalkboard wall in the youth lounge. It will need a second coat this week, but stay tuned for inspiring messages and thoughts from our youth.

Faithful Journeys explored the sixth UU principle; work for peace and justice. They discussed different countries they knew about and explored those they did not. Be sure to ask them about the Asian and Indian tradition of pressing the hands together in front of the chest and bowing slightly. What word accompanies this practice?

Harry & UU’s created the most aromatic bath salts on the shoreline! The Faith Formation floor was flooded with scents of lavender, eucalyptus, sweet orange and tea tree oil. Be on the lookout for bath salts for purchase during coffee hour this Sunday. All proceeds benefit Doctor’s Without Borders as the class works to fight the Sickness Horcrux.

This week…

We have regular Faith Formation classes. Steve Ernst will join the children this Sunday to begin preparing an Easter song for April 12. He will be with us for the next several Sundays as we learn the music together. We will then join the adult choir for two rehearsals ahead of the Easter service. Stay tuned for more details!

OWL Reminders:
Please note the updated OWL class times below and plan accordingly.

A note from Faith Formation Lead, Benna Lehrer…

“As you may know, we have a tribe of leaders that work closely with our DFF to make the Faith Formation program happen.  They’re called Faith Formation Pillar leaders, and they sit on the Faith Formation Committee.  I am happy to announce that Kathy Helmrich has agreed to be acting co-lead of the Faith Formation Committee. Kathy and I will work closely to support our teachers, volunteers, Amy and the entire Faith Formation Program.  Kathy has deep knowledge of teaching (she was a children’s librarian) and of our Faith Formation Program (she lead the Faith Formation Search Committee last year!).

Kathy, thank you so much for your commitment to our children, youth and congregation!”
