Faith Formation News – March 19, 2020

Faith Formation Family Coffee & Hot Chocolate Talk (ZOOM)
Sunday, March 22 following the 10:30a online service (circa 11:15a)

Please join me and my furry pet(s) on Sunday morning following the online service.  Parents: perk your coffee and get some mini marshmallows ready for your little ones as we spend some online time together this week. We’ll introduce our pets (real or stuffed) OR you can give us a tour of your bedroom! Better get cleaning some of you!  Parents: We’ll spend some time taking open feedback about where we go from here. I f you can’t join us on Sunday, please feel free to email or call me with any thoughts. We are all in this together!

P.S. I know you are getting bombarded with LOTS of information, but in case you have time below are a few helpful bits and resources:

*Spend time talking about home faith rituals.  A chalice lighting time to begin or end the day can be grounding for everyone.  An evening time ritual at dinner or bedtime might include lighting the chalice and sharing joys and sorrows of the day.  Share what they do or are thinking about starting to do!  Many children love a chance to share!

*Do not shy away from expressions of sadness or grief.  These are not normal times and it is okay to have these feelings.  Working from home and/or being stuck with children most of the time can be challenging as well (myself included!).  Retaining sanity, humor, gratitude, and being grounded will help children immensely.  (Jeanne and I are working on setting up some regular office hours on Zoom so stay tuned!)

*Even though kids are certainly hearing the word coronavirus, they may not have been given an explanation of what it is. Try either of these links:
