Social Justice Needs You!

Our Social Justice Coordinating Team (SJCT) has two specific requests that need your input.

1) How best to continue our commitment to Shoreline Soup Kitchens and Pantries?

SSKP serves breakfast to those in need at the UCC church in Old Lyme. Their weekly meals have been shut down during the pandemic, but are now planning to open again. They are basically starting from scratch and are asking for input on how best to restructure this important program. They need to know that SUUS is still interested and who will lead this team. Barb Francese, the head of our Food Insecurity Team is retiring from this position, but will assist a member to take on the lead of this one time event. Can you help?

2) Guilford Peace Alliance needs volunteers.

Would SUUS be willing to be a presence at the weekly vigil on Saturdays from 11-12 noon on the Guilford Green, displaying the Peace Alliance banner and the peace flag? The Alliance has had a presence on the green since 1979 and would like to continue doing so, but its leaders are aging out and are in need of volunteers. Would SUUS consider signing up for 1 hour a month on one Saturday to help continue this tradition?

Join the SJCT at the Annual Meeting on June 5th to learn more and share your thoughts. An organizational meeting will be scheduled in late August to discuss what our justice work should look like for the coming year. CLICK HERE to learn more about what SJCT does and how you can help.
