Fall Update from the Board

Hello everyone –
As we move into Fall, a couple of updates:

First, the NPR radio spot campaign is about to launch! You will recall that our Communications Team has been working with other UU congregations in Connecticut to put together an exciting campaign that lets NPR listeners know of our open-hearted and welcoming religion. The spots direct listeners to the UUA website to find nearby congregations. These spots will start airing in the coming days! Thanks to the Communications Team for all their work on this great initiative!

Our other update is about SUUS’s Covid health protocols. Since the start of the pandemic, the primary focus of the Board and Covid 19 Team, through these protocols, has been the safety of our congregation, staff, and visitors. While conditions have improved over the past 2 years, risks remain. Positivity rates in CT remain around 10% (which does not include home testing results). As a result, the Board feels it is prudent to continue our existing protocols, which require proof of vaccination and masks be worn in the building. The mask requirement does allow masks to be lowered when sipping a beverage or taking a bite of food during Fellowship Time when held indoors (you are encouraged to drink and eat outside when weather permits). The Board will continue to keep a close watch on pandemic data and conditions and adjust our protocols if prudent. Your continued understanding and support are greatly appreciated.

This Sunday we will have our Regathering and Water Communion service. Elise Morrison and Director of Faith Formation, Amy Buckley, will lead this annual service of renewal and regathering. Members, friends, and newcomers are all welcome to participate with their children in this intergenerational service. Please bring a small amount of water that symbolizes something important to you and your family. We look forward to being with you in community.

Wishing you well –
Sue Schaedler and Gary Feder
