In June* we will share the plate with the New London Homeless Hospitality Center, for whose clients our children and youth have twice packed duffle bags and backpacks with supplies for men and women.
The 40-bed shelter was founded in 2006 with the mission to provide a place of safety and welcome for adults facing homelessness in southeastern Connecticut. This year the volunteers anticipate 600 people seeking help from them.
Beyond providing hospitality, they also offer support for the homeless to connect to services they need: a driver’s license, medical treatment, addiction treatment—and they serve as a bridge to permanent housing. They provide, in their own words, “an open door for those who need it most.” To learn more, click here.
- On June 11, our Share the Plate will be dedicated to Raise the Roof, in honor of our Youth Ned Jobson who will be bridging on this Sunday.
