SUUS Tapestry at Yale University Art Gallery

Many thanks to the Social Events and Activity Committee for organizing a tour and discussion with James Green, the Assistant Curator of African Art at the Yale University Art Gallery.

This piece hung (vertically) in the SUUS sanctuary, from the late 1980’s until 2018. Donated by long time member Lucy Grimm and her family, it was a much admired backdrop for our speakers and ministers.

Its legacy and preservation is now insured as the largest textile in the African permanent collection. Many thanks to Liz Miranker and Rev. Jeanne Lloyd for making this happen.
