In September we will share our plate with Tree of Life Educational Fund, a non-profit founded by Old Lyme Congregational minister Rev. David Good, (who passed away in April 2024) to support international, interfaith educational tours and conferences in the Holy Land and America, to allow Americans and others to witness human rights abuses in Israel/Palestine and to observe and support the work of peacemakers.
The Tree of Life is an interfaith symbol of mutually dependent life. The group is allied with Native Americans and others who have experienced the suffering of indigenous peoples under foreign colonization.
Tree of Life helps to export Palestinian oil and products to benefit Palestinian farmers hemmed in by illegal settlements and supports a scholarship fund for Palestinian education. Shoreline UU has received visits from Tree of Life staff and helped to host interfaith conferences.
Our Social Justice Committee asks you to support the sale of Palestinian products at our church on Sept 29, to consider joining one of the tours, and to contribute through Share the Plate to the peacemaking work of Tree of Life. To learn more, click here.
