While obviously POTUS is a tragic loss, I want to give you a little perspective on our Get Out The Vote work that could not be more important.
- According to Robert Hubbell, In this election, 1/3 of voters voted GOP, 1/3 voted Dem, and 1/3 didn’t bother to vote.
- Please know that our collective work supported the significant victories listed below.
1. Elissa Slotkin wins Michigan US Senate! We carded for her of course! She won by 0.3% of the vote total
2. Tammy Baldwin wins Wisconsin US Senate. Do you remember that we carded for Janet Protosewicz to flip control of the Wisconsin Supreme Court? Justice Janet’s win ushered in fair maps in WI helping Baldwin win by 0.9%
3. US Senator Martin Heinrich of New Mexico won by a whopping 10%
4. Congressman NY 3 Tom Suozzi
5. Congressman NY22 John Mannion
6. Phone banking and carding into North Carolina: Dem Governor Josh Stein!
7. North Carolina we flipped a legislative seat breaking the GOP super majority . Meaning they no lo; josh nger have the ability to have a veto the Governor
8. NY 4: Congressional Laura Gillen by 2% ( Our Desi voters!)
9. VA Congressional Vindman
10. NY 19: Congressional Josh Riley
11. AL 02! The new Black district! Congressional Shomari Figures by 9%
12. Senator Andy Kim!! NJ! First Korean American US Senator!
13. Jahana Hayes, CT CD5! And here in CT we did the work and kept out entire Congressional delegation and legislature deep blue
14. Virginia Congressional Jenn McClellan
15. NY18: Congressional Josh Ryan
16. 7 states voted to codify a woman’s right to choose
17. After 5 years of intense work, CT now will have both Early Voting and No excuse absentee voting
Our ongoing work just got that much more important. But I did want to take a moment to let you see and celebrate some of our successes.
I’m sure there are others races that are yet to be called where our work and that of others helped usher in another win for democracy. I’ll let you know when those are called but for now please know that our collective work supported these significant victories.
With Heartfelt Gratitude,
Carol Rizzolo
