It is wrong that, because of our systemic inequities, people go hungry in America, and so, in January, we will share our plate with Connecticut Foodshare.
Founded in 1982, Connecticut Foodshare supports individuals and families – from one end of the state to the other – by addressing root causes, creating long-term solutions, and distributing nutritious food through local partner programs to help alleviate hunger. Every month it serves more than 24,000 households, provides over 835,000 senior meals, and distributes food to the hungry from more than 100 mobile food pantries. Giving food alone cannot result in sustainable, long-term solutions, but it can provide short-term help as we work toward that future in which no one goes hungry. Thank you for your generosity.
Last year, Connecticut Foodshare distributed enough food to prepare nearly 47 million meals to people in need in Connecticut.
