To hear Charles Dickens’ timeless classic in his own words, is to experience the story for the first time. To hear it told in Jennifer Munro’s dramatic and thoroughly English interpretation, is to experience it as Dickens’ himself intended: with just the power of the human voice to bring his irresistible cast of characters, Scrooge, Marley’s Ghost, the Fezziwigs, the Cratchits, and the rascals in the “low browed beetling shop”, to vibrant and authentic life.
Above all, this memorable story reminds us that generosity toward those less fortunate than ourselves lies at the very heart of personal happiness – and isn’t that what the Christmas season is all about?
