Unitarian Universalist Rites of Passage

Life passages are an important part of our spiritual life together…

Unitarian Universalist rites of passage begin as we celebrate the arrival of our children in Child Dedication ceremonies where parents, children and adults in the congregation commit to the raising of our newest young ones.  Please click on the following link for more information about this meaningful rite of passage at SUUS: Child Dedications at SUUS

Coming of Age is a year-long program where our young teens prepare for adulthood by learning more about our Unitarian Universalist tradition and activity. At the end of the year we recognize our new young adults in the Coming of Age Service.

Becoming a Member is a rite of passage we celebrate when people join our congregation. This ceremony is brief and is held in a Sunday Service.

Marriage have long been how we celebrate the life-long love between two people. Shoreline UU Society has been conducting  Civil Union Ceremonies for decades, but since it has been legal in CT and now in all 50 states, we are pleased to be able to offer marriage to everyone.

Memorials and Funerals are how we celebrate the end of lifeMemorial Garden 1 at Shoreline Unitarian Universalist. Working with the family, in poetry, music and reflections, we share our memories and say good-bye to beloved friends and family. Family members and Friends of SUUS can be memorialized in our Memorial Garden, and cremation remains may be interred there.
