SEA Events & Activities during Physical Distancing

While we are in this period of physical distancing and cannot host programs at SUUS or travel together, the SEA (Social Events and Activities) Committee is going to share some virtual online and viewing experiences each week. If you would like to suggest an activity for this weekly list, please email Kathy Helmrich, kahelmrich@yahoo.com

Enjoy!

Television Drama

“Mrs. “America” is a highly recommended dramatization about the women’s movement led by Gloria Steinem, Betty Friedan, Bella Abzug and Shirley Chisholm and their campaign to pass the ERA and Phyllis Schlafly’s opposition to it.   The ERA was passed by Congress in 1972, but it had to be ratified by 38 states to make it law. Virginia became the 38th state to pass ratification legislation this past January, though the deadline for implementation has passed.

“Mrs. America”  is available on Hulu.  (If you don’t have it, you can sign on for the 30 day free trial, and then cancel to avoid charges.)  There are three episodes.
