News from the Board of Trustees

I hope you all have been enjoying your summer, that you’ve been able to reconnect with friends and family and able to have some relaxing downtime. The SUUS Board of Trustees, and some of our key committees, have continued to meet as we keep our eyes on the constantly changing landscape that we are living in these days.

Over the course of the summer, we were able to close out our past fiscal year in good shape financially. The Endowment Rewrite Team has continued to meet weekly and are on track for being able to present their recommendations for the new “Fund” management at the November congregational meeting.

The guest quarters for Reverend Terry when he comes to stay with us have been worked on and made ready for his visits.

The Covid-19 Protocol Team has been monitoring the latest developments with the emergence of the delta variant and breakthrough infections, even among fully vaccinated people. The team’s latest recommendations are in progress, and we will take a cautious approach to protect our beloved community.

We can, however, look forward to our regathering on September 12th. Please save the date and watch your email for further information on our regathering service and activities.

Also on September 12th, we will hold a short congregational meeting with a very important task. We will vote on the Endowment Fund draw for the amount approved at our Annual Meeting last June. Because it’s an Endowment request, we need a quorum of 50% of our voting members to attend the meeting. Information on how to attend the meeting in person or over Zoom and how to vote will be sent out on August 27th. You must attend the meeting in order to be able to vote. I look forward to our members supporting this important step to cover our budgetary commitments for the 2021-22 fiscal year.

At our board meeting in August, we will discuss our goals for the coming year and share them with you all next month.

May you all continue to enjoy these last weeks of summer in good health and happiness.

In faith,
Sue Schaedler, President
