This Week in Faith Formation

The pre-K-6th grade class will be continue exploring ideas about connection and understanding.

The 8th and 9th grade class will continue Building Bridges.  Building Bridges is a world religions program to deepen youth’s understanding of the dynamic, fascinating, and varied world in which they live. It seeks to broaden their knowledge of humanity and embolden their spiritual search.

SOCIAL JUSTICE PROJECT

The Homeless Hospitality Center in New London is a place of safety and welcome to adults facing homelessness in southeastern Connecticut.  About 600 people will seek help this year.  The Homeless Hospitality Center collaborates with dozens of public and private programs and agencies to address the underlying causes of homelessness for each person and help him/her find permanent housing as quickly as possible.

The Homeless Hospitality Center has a 40-bed overnight shelter, including a Respite Center for those confronting chronic or acute health issues, and is full nearly every night.

The Daytime Hospitality Center offers a place to sit, a place to get mail, make a phone call, take a shower, do laundry, use the bathroom, get a pair of socks, and log onto the computer. The Daytime Hospitality Center is a place for guests to meet with staff, outside providers, volunteers, and others who will get people the help they need to get back on their feet.

Welcome Home Basket for New London Homeless Hospitality center

The Homeless Hospitality Center houses hundreds of people a year. Virtually all of them have limited income and need help with basic necessities for setting up their new home. You can give them a warm welcome and play a role in their success by providing items for the Welcome Home Basket. The bulletin board in the fellowship hall near the stairs will have a list all the items that we are collecting. We are asking everyone in the congregation to donate one or more items from the list.

All children and youth attending Faith Formation programs need to be registered. Please use this link SUUS Faith Formation Registration 2023-2024 The link to registration can also be found on our website under Faith Formation forms.
